London Symphony Orchestra - Inclusive Create Workshops begin in January 2026

LSO Create offers participatory music workshops for disabled and/or neurodiverse adults, their supporters and carers. The workshops are inspired by repertoire being performed by the LSO, and the group’s diverse life experiences. United by a love of music, participants compose, improvise and create music together, alongside LSO musicians and creative leader Mark Withers.

There are two opportunities to participate in LSO Create, either in one-off exploratory Open days or in the more experienced Perform group, who take part in performances and projects 3 times/year.

Create Open sessions
Create Open sessions run monthly (starting in Jan 2026) and do not require any prior instrumental experience, though we also welcome those who already play instruments. Create Open welcomes anyone who wants to try out different ways of making sound and music with other people and LSO musicians in a relaxed and accessible environment.

A facilitator from Drake Music supports the sessions so that participants can make use of accessible music technology. Session themes are different every month and not linked to any previous work – participants can attend as a drop in, though advanced booking is required. There will not be any performance opportunities with this project.

Create Perform
Create Perform ensemble meets every other month and focuses on creating and performing their own repertoire up to 3 times a year. Membership of the group is by invite only and all participants have experience and interest in rehearsing, refining, and performing alongside LSO musicians.

Participants may attend alone, with family members or supporters, or as part of a group from local day or residential centres. Sessions take place at LSO St Luke’s, our newly reopened accessible venue with ramp access, lifts to all levels, a hoist and an accessible toilet.

Create Open Rehearsals
LSO Create Open Rehearsals are an opportunity for individuals and groups of disabled and/or neurodiverse adults, their supporters and carers, to hear the London Symphony Orchestra rehearsing in the Barbican Hall.
