Families in the City
Families in The City
Part of this programme reflects the national shift towards Family Hubs, which aim to provide a central access point for support and services, ensuring families get the support they need as early as possible. Another part is developing our services for 0-5s and their families as a Start for Life offer.
Family Hubs and Start for Life services look different across local authorities. However, all aim to bring the following services under one Family Hub banner:
• support and services for families with young children aged 0-5 as part of a Start for Life offer
• support for children and young people aged 6-19
• support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25

What will this look like in the City of London?
It’s early days in the City of London, and what a Family Hub and Start for Life offer looks like here will evolve over the coming months as the Families in the City programme progresses.
Families in the City isn’t about stopping any services for families. It’s about building on what we have, to make our offer as accessible and appropriate for our residents as possible.
This will require some change to how things are delivered.
How can young people, parents and carers have their say?
You can join the Family Design Lab!
The Family Design Lab is a group open to all City of London resident children, young people, parents and carers, or those who currently engage with City of London Early Help, youth and family services. The Design Lab, running until December, will provide a range of opportunities for you to share your views and ideas about services and support for families.
If you sign-up to the design lab, you can choose what you’d like to be involved with and how. There is no obligation to take part in anything.
If you don’t want to join the design lab, there will still be opportunities for you to have your voice heard as part of wider involvement activities.
