Charterhouse Square School
Description
Charterhouse Square School is an independent co-educational school for pupils aged 3 to 11, located in the heart of the City of London. It offers an environment rich with opportunities, seamlessly combining academic excellence with a focus on providing a safe and nurturing atmosphere. At Charterhouse Square, pupils and teachers are on a first-name basis, and there is no school uniform, allowing every child to express their individuality.
Pupils achieve exceptional academic results, consistently above the national average, thanks to excellent teaching, superb pastoral care, and a warm, stimulating environment. They are encouraged and empowered to embrace challenges, step out of their comfort zones, and strive for the highest levels of achievement, developing as confident, articulate, and self-motivated individuals. The school celebrates individuality while fostering a strong sense of togetherness, instilling confidence that prepares pupils for life beyond its doors and paving the way for success at leading senior schools and beyond.
The curriculum provides a thorough grounding in core subjects such as Literacy and Numeracy, as well as the Arts, Humanities, and Sports. Oracy skills are prioritised through activities including debating, philosophy for children, and discussions on current affairs.
Places in the Nursery are allocated through a random selection process conducted by an online generator. Registered siblings are automatically offered a place, provided their brother or sister is attending Charterhouse Square School in their first term of entry. The ballot process applies only to Nursery admissions.

Supporting social and emotional development
In some classes PSHE is timetabled weekly and in others, sessions are held as and when required. It is also taught through cross-curricular opportunities eg drama and science. Children with identified needs are supported through specific group discussion intervention by TAs or SEN teachers. In addition, advice from professionals may be sought after. This would enable a more specific intervention to be provided, either to a whole class, group or 1-1 basis.
How do we support children with SEND?
- Differentiated curriculum
- Reasonable adjustments in the classroom
- Where appropriate individual programmes of intervention
- Speech and language therapy
